Nominations should include verified guest satisfaction scores, sustainability certificates, unique experience offerings, design accolades, and any distinguishing features that set the resort apart in its category. Nominations can be submitted by resort management, ownership groups, or industry partners.
Resort Awards specifically recognise properties designed around a complete immersive escape experience — typically featuring extensive recreational facilities, destination dining, wellness offerings, and a natural or designed setting that forms an integral part of the guest experience. Hotel Awards focus more broadly on urban and mixed-use lodging. Resort Award criteria place greater weight on setting quality, recreational programming, and the resort's ability to be a destination in its own right rather than simply a place to sleep.
All resort types are eligible: luxury resorts, coastal and island beach resorts, alpine and highland mountain resorts, dedicated spa and wellness resorts, family-focused resorts with outstanding children's programming, and eco resorts demonstrating genuine environmental sustainability. There is no minimum room count or star rating requirement — boutique eco resorts of 20 rooms compete on equal terms with large-scale destination resorts of 500 rooms.
Eco resort nominations are evaluated against detailed sustainability criteria including verified carbon footprint reduction, renewable energy adoption percentage, water conservation programmes and measurable outcomes, waste reduction achievements, local community benefit programmes, biodiversity protection measures, and transparency of sustainability reporting. Resorts claiming eco status are expected to provide third-party verification of their sustainability credentials where available.
